WHERE: School site to be announced soon.
WHEN: Pending application approval by the Atlanta Public School system, we expect to open K-6 grade levels in July 2009.
WHY: Complementing the widespread development and growth of the intown communities such as Midtown and the Old Fourth Ward, the Intown Academy provides another choice for your children’s education. Initiatives such as the Brand Atlanta Campaign, the Beltline development, and the Blueprint Midtown development plan will further bring more families to intown communities, increasing the need for high-quality educational alternatives.
The Intown Academy is a spring board for enhancing our live-work-play community to one of live-work-educate-play. This ideal is aligned with the global view from both the private and public sectors that education is a key contributing factor to any community’s current and future competitive advantage.
The Intown Academy can capture the community’s diversity on many levels including ethnicity, race, income, gender, and household types, to name just a few. The Intown Academy will draw students from the in-town communities of Midtown and the Old Fourth Ward, as well as other areas of the Atlanta Public School System. A balanced and diverse student body will more accurately emulate the ‘real world’ to give students a better understanding of our global society.
