The Role of the Founding Board

The Founding Board has been leading the grassroots effort to develop the concept of a charter school into a complete business plan.  This includes securing planning grants, engaging volunteers as well as consultants to assist with developing the charter application, and developing the implementation plan for the roll-out of the Intown Academy.

The Role of the Governing Board

When the Charter Petition is approved by both the Atlanta Public Schools and the Georgia Department of Education, the Founding Board dissolves and a new Governing Board is created to implement the plan for the Intown Academy.

This Board oversees operations to ensure effective organizational planning, to ensure adequate resources are available when needed, to enhance the Intown Academy’s image, and to support the management of the Intown Academy.
